Một số quốc gia đã bày tỏ sự quan tâm đến việc tổ chức giải đấu, bao gồm: Úc, Malaysia, Thái Lan và Việt Nam.[5][6] AFC đã chọn Thái Lan làm chủ nhà của giải đấu tại cuộc họp của Ủy ban thi đấu AFC ở Tokyo vào tháng 8 năm 2018.[7]
